Willy Atsoka
My name is Willy Atsoka, and I am currently pursuing a Master’s degree in the History of Philosophy at the Catholic University of Central Africa. My main areas of research include African philosophy, decolonial epistemology and philosophical anthropology.
I am also a co-author of “Quelle espérance pour quelle philosophie” (What Hope for What Philosophy), published by Éditions Universitaires Européennes.
My Master’s thesis, largely inspired by the work of Valentin-Yves Mudimbe, explores epistemicide and the manifestations of Afro-pessimism within African societies. More specifically, it seeks to examine how these phenomena shape perceptions of African identity and influence Africans’ relationships with their indigenous knowledge systems and their environment.
As a philosopher, my goal is to encourage people, particularly young people, to develop a deeper awareness of their intellectual potential and the transformative power of their minds. Ultimately, I hope to contribute to positive social change by fostering critical thinking, self-awareness, and a renewed appreciation of African knowledge and thought.
