Melissa Afanador

“My name is Melissa Afanador González, and I was born on November 4, 2009, in Bogotá, Colombia. Although my parents are not together, both have played an important and constant role in my life from the moment I was born until today. At the age of one, I began attending kindergarten, and by the age of three, I started school at the institution where I am still enrolled today. Throughout my school years, I have participated in a wide variety of activities, both academic and extracurricular, which have contributed significantly to my personal growth. Within the school environment, I have taken part in singing, taekwondo, ballet, cheerleading, speed skating, piano, drums, guitar, and soccer. Beyond school, I have dedicated five years to training in acting and modeling, gaining experience through appearances on national television channels and even internationally on National Geographic Kids. I have consistently been an excellent student, maintaining a straight-A academic record. This year has been particularly special, as I am participating in a national competition organized by the Banco de la República of Colombia, while simultaneously I was preparing for the International Philosophy Olympiad (IPO) and competing in the EF Challenge 2025. At present, I am also representing my school in the National Philosophy Olympiad and focusing on my health and personal well-being. Outside of my academic life, I am the youngest of four siblings and a big family person. My life so far has been marked by dedication, perseverance, and the constant pursuit of new challenges that allow me to grow both academically and personally.”
