Maliha Afrin

My name is Maliha Afrin Islam, but I usually go by just Maliha Afrin. I’m a 19 year old highschool student and despite studying science my entire life, my heart lies with philosophy, English literature, and history. I was introduced to fictional books by my mom at a very early age and later on stumbled across the International Philosophy Olympiad in middle school which opened up the world of philosophy for me. The times when I’m not pondering about philosophy, I’m teaching, writing, reading, painting, or tending to my garden. Gardening and venturing into the woods near my childhood home is something I’ve always found solace in and it also stirred the passion of protecting and advocating for the environment and the impact of climate change. At my core, I strive to live with kindness and empathy, and to help shape a world where these are no longer ideals, but instincts.
