Committee Chair

My name is Dimitrije Golubović, and I am currently a student of philosophy at KU Leuven. I was born in Niš, Serbia, and graduated from the Gymnasium “Bora Stanković” with a specialization in computer sciences. I have competed in the International Philosophy Olympiad in Olympia (2023), winning the gold medal, as well as in the Trinity College Philosophy Essay Prize, where I won second place. Besides philosophical writings, I have also published poems, short stories and translations in several publications, culminating with my first novel “The Twelve Medallions” (Dvanaest medaljona), published in 2024.

My general interests span both the sciences and the humanities, which is why I chose to pursue philosophy. I strongly believe in the importance of understanding both the differences and the connections between them, not only in the topics which they deal with, but in the processes of creation and discovery. I see Philosium as a way not only to strengthen humanistic education in the world and its under-represented regions, but also to enhance communication and cooperation between the sciences and the humanities through online discussions, conferences and symposiums.

My primary philosophical interests are philosophy of language and philosophy of science, and, more generally, work conducted in the analytic tradition. Furthermore, due to my fondness for literature and for international projects, I am also interested in translation and the philosophical problems it brings up.

Most importantly, my work and achievements have been shaped by my teachers and mentors – without them, I would not be the person that I am. The goal of Philosium, in my view, is not only connecting students from around the world, but connecting mentors and sharing knowledge which each of them had gathered on a local level. A philosophy network provides benefits to each of its nodes – by joining it students would be able to harness the shared knowledge of all its parts, not depending anymore solely on the quality of their local education and activities.
